Dr. Hu

My name is Ling Qun Hu, MD and I am the founder of the No Pain Labor & Delivery – Global Health Initiative (NPLD-GHI). Before coming to the US in 2001 to complete my residency at the University of Michigan and the University of Florida to become an anesthesiologist, I graduated from Zhejiang University School of Medicine in China in 1984 and I was an internist in China. Throughout my years of schooling and my experiences in global health initiatives in China, India, and Ecuador, I have come to realize that the only way to significantly improve patient care and outcomes is through meaningful and progressive medical education. Our goal is to not only teach correct conceptions in obstetric medicine but also to maintain and sustain these efforts to better the society in the present as well as for the future. I have faith that NPLD-GHI will not only reach these aspirations but surpass them through our program’s immersive, multidisciplinary approach to medicine. Just as the saying goes, “if you give a man a fish, he will be fed for a day, but teach a man to fish and he will be fed for a lifetime.”

The Vision of NPLD-GHI: the Speech at Johns Hopkins University and Stanford University
